BYOK
Bring your own API key - full privacy lane
Use Maho's interface with your own OpenAI / Anthropic / Google / OpenRouter key. Maho proxies but never stores keys or content.
Add your API key in Settings- Access frontier models (Claude Opus, GPT-5, o3) that aren't in Maho-managed.

Why no Opus / GPT-5 base in Maho-managed?
Frontier models cost 5-10x more per token. To keep prices honest at $5/$20, we exclude them from Maho-managed tiers. That includes Claude Opus, GPT-5 base, o3/o4, gemini-3-ultra, and reasoning-premium. Use BYOK to access frontier models at provider cost.

Can I switch tiers?
Yes. Upgrades and downgrades are prorated, and the new limits usually apply within minutes.
What happens when I hit my monthly budget?
Maho prompts you to buy credits for an immediate fallback, or you can wait for your next billing period reset.
Do credits expire?
Credits have no routine expiry while your account and the PAYG service remain active. They are removed with account deletion and may be subject to a discontinuation, refund, or migration process described in the Terms.
Is BYOK better than Max?
It depends. BYOK needs your own provider account and API key. Max is plug-and-play and keeps billing inside Maho.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel whenever you want, and paid access continues until the end of the current billing period.
